World's most boring Job is...
Me and my colleagues were having a stroll after our company lunch hour. Sabu started a topic - What can be the world's most boring job ? He talked of a job relating to a painter. This painter he talked about was supposed to apply fresh paint on the wall and wait for it to dry. Using somekind of instrument he had to check periodically whether the paint has dried. Sabu reasoned that waiting for such a long time to see if the paint is dry is real boring thing to do! Yes true... Then we started to think of other boring jobs...
The Gatekeeper, one who keeps opening the main door at hotels and salutes you, was another candidate.
Ruchir, another colleague, suggested that any job that requires WAITING is a dull job. Good argument...
The one that beats them all, according to me, is the job of lift-man. Poor fellow is tied up in a 4X4 feet lift for the entire day. All he gets to sit is a chair and his work area is restricted to that 4X4 (or much less too) lift. Entire day he keeps moving up and down doing the same thing myriad times. Furthermore, most of the times he doesn't have control over his motion. He will be resting on 6th floor and someone on the ground floor requests the lift. He is at the ground floor in a moment!
Other people can at least see/move around. If the lift-man is lucky enough, he will get a glass lift installed outside of the hotel where at least he can enjoy the scenic beauty. Else, if the lift is a typical oldie, what he sees is just a opaque lift-door hoping to get away with a busy boring day.
Cheers,
Manish.

One more: Call center jobs. Taking 130 calls in 9 hours. It will be dead boring once u r familiar with the stuff...(as heard from the experience from some of my friends :))
though...there will be some comic customers whose silliest questions will bring some smile on ur face...and some will just try to shovel dirt on you...transferring their frustration for life on you...
but certainly not as bad and boring as that of a liftman or a "darbaan"....who won't even get paid that well....
as far as painter's job is concerned...well..that might be intersting for some of the people...

All IT jobs have some entertainment associated with it. People may browse the internet or listen to mp3 songs. However, the job itself can become monotonous for certain though.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Job is not interesting or boring, its people's interest or lack of it make it intersting or borking. You never know, some people might actually like doing liftman's job because it gives them time to relax and relaxing is what they enjoy.
Anyways, all jobs are monotnous if you continue to do it the same way for years.
You know which other job i think would be boring? : that of hookers/strippers. Doing the same thing again and again like a machine, and almost all of them doing it against their wishes(which is the toughest part).

The point then is to be creative in whatever is being done... However, certain jobs like liftman's job might limit the creativity as compared to the stripper's job...
That's real cool analysis. Nothing beats the boringness of a liftman's job.. I propose each liftman be given a MP3 player to reduce his monotony.
SECURITY! Not the nightclub type, but the sit in a tiny room or ur car for 12 hours. No toilet, no fresh water and no one to talk to. The lift guy has people to interact with at least. Maybe he see's a girl he likes, afta a while and seeing each other everyday, they can spark a relationship? Security hands down.
